BACK IN THE BLOG AGAIN! OH MY!

How can it be almost a year since my last blog??? My goodness, I have to say I am ashamed, but, hey....I really have been busy.....here is some of the latest happenings with Sundaes Best:


We are going to be featured in Issue #3 of Where Women Cook Magazine. A wonderful publication created by the amazing Jo Packham of Stampington & Company's Somerset Studio. The Ground Hog Saw What?

Hey, Hey! It's already Ground Hog's Day?! How can it be? My Christmas tree is still standing in the front window of our house, my calendars are still not filled with birthdays, anniversaries, craft show dates or important upcoming appointments and the to do list for the "slow time" still has many more items that need to be completed. Oh well....I guess it is Ground Hog's Day already!

The famous Puxatawny Phil Ground Hog from Pennsylvania may or may not have seen his shadow this year which means what? 6 more weeks of winter.....I don't know, but what I do know is that what the local Saratoga Springs, NY Ground Hog saw that everyone was enjoying Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce!! Hooray! Pictured above are some of our favorite people, our fabulous vet Dr. Emily and the gang at Battenkill Bovine practice in Greenwich, NY. With our small farm of critters (dogs, goats and llamas) we make certain to keep this team sweet and happy! We appreciate them so much! I was thrilled to see that they took the the time to enjoy a sundae made with Sundaes Best!

Six more weeks of winter doesn't seem so bad when you think of all the things that can get done or not, in six weeks. And after all, winter evenings/weekends are the perfect time to cozy up on the sofa under a softly weathered wool blanket with the television remote in one hand and a big bowl of your favorite ice cream or frozen yogurt slathered with Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce in the other hand. For a real bonus toast some almonds and walnuts on a baking sheet in the oven until warm and crispy and throw those on your sundae too! They are delicious and healthy as well. Recently, while I was enjoying a sundae on the sofa, I thought it maybe time to start looking at the calendar and getting my dates and schedules put together.

Did you know that February is National Cherry Month? Neither did I until I flipped open the Dawn Food Products calendar that one of my vendors gave me and to my surprise I am now in the know about all the National observances...the real important ones that is...the ones involving food! Just a highlight of some more unnecessary to know, but fun to blog about items.....in case you were wondering....February is also National Snack food Month (wow! just one month, in my life it is every month!) I know it is hard to wait for but March is National Frozen Food Month - imagine along with National Peanut Month (beware those with allergies.....) thank goodness for not opening the calendar until February because I was able to skip entirely, and sister, I mean skip entirely, without guilt that January is National Diet Month (I always wondered why I disliked January)and unfortunately for all the bakers out there it is also National Retail Bakers Month.....that really bites to have to share their month with such a down as National Diet Month.

Don't get me wrong....I have nothing against diets except that they don't work and even though I was poised and ready to speed dial the 800 # for The California Cookie Diet plan that I saw advertised on an infomercial late one night last week, I quickly came to my senses, and really decided that the best diet for me is no diet at all, and everything in moderation....not so bad when you get the hang of it! I still have difficulty with hot fudge sauce, snack foods, cherries,cookies, and at the end of the month of March I will post my results as I wade my through a freezer of frozen food calories as to how the whole moderation thing is working out!

So in honor of National Cherry Month I think it's prudent to celebrate with a mug of hot chocolate made with Sundaes Best Chazzy's Cherry Hot Fudge Sauce......find your biggest mug and fill it to the brim with milk,scoop a big tablespoon of Chazzy's Cherry hot fudge into the mug, pop in the microwave for say 1 minute and stir and enjoy.....or yeah, don't forget the whip or shavings of chocolate if you want to get fancy...............yum, yum! Now, that's what 6 more weeks of winter is all about!

Until then, don't worry what month it is and just enjoy every day! Here at Sundaes Best and at my house everyday is made for a sundae and every month is National Hot Fudge Sundae Month!

Ohio Loves Chocolate! Country Living Fair is Sweet!

Wooh Hooh! What a great weekend for Sundaes Best in Ohio!! I knew that Columbus loved their football, their Buckeyes, and now they love their chocolate too! Sundaes Best was very well received at the Country Living Magazine's Country Living Fair at Ohio Village in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend. Over 20,000 people attended this fantastic three-day event.
I packed up a load of hot fudge sauce, my dear friend Beth Cunningham, and headed west for our 600+ mile toot to see what the Country Living Fair was all about. My friend, Jenny Wren she said it would be a great place to promote Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce and boy was she right!

How can you have so much fun at work? I am one of the luckiest people on the planet! I sold lots of hot fudge sauce, met lots of great artists and purveyors, laughed non-stop! We enjoyed great food, and very comfortable lodging... what more could a girl ask for?? The setting at Ohio Village was picturesque, the mature shade trees, the gravel roadways and the wooden side walks lined with lush flowers, turn of the century buildings plus perfect weather made this three-day outdoor event one for the record books!

Customers and vendors alike came from all over the fifty nifty states. Our neighbors, and new wholesale account, the Woolly Bugger Coffee Roasters trekked from Michigan and Beth and I met some antiques dealers from St. Louis and even Texas! We even were surprised to see our current customers at the show..Karla from Karla's Kitchen Klutter. The energy at the show was palpable....creative energy, buying power energy, and excited energy about all the goodies to see and to taste!

Our booth (pictured) was a hub of activity! We sampled our Original hot fudge sauce along with Peanut Butter, Java, Mint and Raspberry. We SOLD OUT out of Java and Peanut Butter and our load was much lighter heading home. (But we found great stuff to fill the space!) To top it all off, Ohio State won on Saturday.....I wonder if all those football boys like Hot Fudge Sauce?? HHMMMMMMMH....

A great big sweet thank-you to: Beth, Jennifer, Michele, Ian, Mimi and of course Jeff. And to all of our new customers in Ohio! I appreciate your support and belief in Sundaes Best Hot Fudge Sauce and look forward to many more sweet trips!
